New environment always has a special charm. The charm of not knowing, of discovering something new, something you newer saw or experienced before. Being a part of a different culture and environment helps you in a great deal to widen your horizons.
Back in 2008, there was a great article published in New York Times, saying that the people who didn’t even take their annual vacation had much higher risks for heart attacks.
Beside all the excitement from travelling and from the luxury of spending some time with your family, there are 5 major reasons why you should travel often:
1. Traveling makes you humble
Traveling has a special power that makes you realise how tiny you and your problems are. You get to see how insignificant you might be and it makes you appreciate everything so much more.
2. Expanding your horizons
It’s a killer of narrow-mindedness. Media fills our heads so many misinformations about different cultures and religions. Being a part of another culture and feeling their hospitality will definitely make you doubt about everything that comes from media.
3. Finding yourself
Many times when you travel, you will be put in awkward situations where you’ll need to find a way out. You might figure out that you have some capabilities you never had before. Besides that, usually when we travel we have more time to think and to reconnect with ourselves.
4. Learning
Besides learning about different cultures, habits and geography, you will learn so much about yourself. Just being outside of your comfort zone, without familiar environment and people, might make you feel naked, but once when you step over it, you’ll become more competent.
5. Traveling builds better self-confidence
Once when you’ll get lost and you’ll learn how to find a right way, it will help you in great way to feel more secure about yourself.
So next time, when you’ll say that traveling is expensive, thing about how expensive is not developing yourself. You can always make more money, but you can never go back in time and visit those destinations on your wish list.
And for all of those with small kids, it’s not as you think it is. Traveling and learning together with kids is one of the best experiences in life I could have.
