“I am so clever that sometimes I don’t understand a single word of what I am saying.”
I meet one or two people who could find themselves in this quote. I am pretty sure that you know also one or two (hopefully just one or two) people like this. We call them braggers, who are always reminding us about how great, no sorry, not just great… how amazing, smart and outstanding their are.
If you haven’t read the story of Oscar Wilde, it goes something like this:
The main character of the story is a rocket, who is one of those braggers, that I talked about before and he is telling to everyone how outstanding and smart he is. Later on, when others start ignoring him, he acts like it’s not a big deal and he makes a conclusion to just keep talking to himself, as he considers himself as an amazing talker. And in that context he explains that even he doesn’t understand everything he is saying, because he is so smart.
The rocket is trying to reveal how smart and amazing he is, but at the same time he reveals that he is pretty arrogant and stupid.
Does it remind you already on someone? I certainly could name couple of people like that. This kind of people usually when they have to quote someone, they will probably choose to quote themselves. Pretty lame, I know.
My advice to you? Stay away from them and just ignore them. When they try to convince you about how smart and amazing they are, just smile and walk away. Sometimes, ignorance is really a true bliss! Stay good!
